Toshiba Logistics’ Honduras Project: Driving Logistics Excellence in Central America
- News
Toshiba Logistics America (TLGA) is proud to play a pivotal role in the ESS Canaveral Project in Honduras, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening the region’s energy capabilities. This project underscores TLGA’s expertise in managing complex, multi-modal logistics under challenging conditions.
Scope and Objectives
The Honduras project involves transporting critical power generation components from global origins to the job site near Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Cortés, Honduras, approximately 70 km’s south of San Pedro Sula. TLGA’s responsibilities span ocean freight, customs clearance, inland trucking, craning & rigging, and site coordination. Our team has worked closely with local partners to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
Key Milestones
Initial Deliveries: The first shipments were successfully arranged by ocean freight from Japan (multiple container types), devanned in Puerto Cortes, transferred to suitable inland trailers and delivered to site in October 2025, marking a significant step forward for the project.
Complex Cargo Handling: Out-of-gauge equipment and oversized valves required specialized flat racks and heavy-haul solutions.
Global Coordination: Shipments originated from multiple countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and the U.S., requiring precise scheduling and compliance with tax exemption processes.
Proactive Planning
Facing challenges from less developed domestic infrastructure, TLGA mitigated these risks through proactive planning—arranging fiscal warehouse storage (while tax exemption process completed), partnering with trusted local partners, coordinating customs clearance, and deploying flexible delivery schedules to keep construction timelines on track.
Looking Ahead
With major components now on-site and remaining shipments scheduled for early 2026, TLGA continues to demonstrate its commitment to operational excellence and customer success. This project not only strengthens Honduras’ energy infrastructure but also highlights TLGA’s ability to deliver innovative logistics solutions across borders.
